You Already Won!

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 6:51 pm

This is an interesting take on the advanced fee fraud scheme.  The email below indicates that you have already won $1,000,000 and it is being distributed to you via Western Union in $5,000 installments. The scammer is using this notification to begin a dialog with the victim.

Unfortunately, if the victim were to reach out to the scammer, it is most likely that the scammer will request some type of fee to continue and process payments through Western Union.  In the past, those who have fell for this type of scheme will often pay out lump sums of money and never receive one  payment.

We expect that you have heard of these details before, but it is important to recongize all the different variations.  Many of the scams we are seeing now will also include the list requesting your name, address, email, etc.  This personal information is the first step of the scam.  Please read below.

A Religious Based Email Scam

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 5:37 pm

Below is another religious based scam we received.

Greetings in the name of the lord.

A letter from me to you.Mrs. Deborah Hutchinson, 65yrs old from Switzerland. You might be wondering where I got your contacts from but I have really taken my time in searching thoroughly. You came into my mind has the lord has directed me to and am willing to do so. I have noticed that you are God fearing, courageous, fulfilling and ambitious in life. I want you to know that you have been the chosen one and please, try and do my will because each of my words or statements must not go unfulfilled reaching the unprivileged, orphanages and the needy as you are blessed.
Dear Beloved One, I am the above named person but now undergoing medical treatment in Western Africa. I am married to Mr. Williams Dale Hutchinson, who worked as a world contractor for over a decade before he died. We were married for fifteen years without a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted for two weeks. Before his death he made a vow to use his wealth for the down troddenand the less privileged in the society. Since his death I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of ($12.000.00 millions us dollars) with a Vault with a bank in Western Africa. Presently, this money is still there.

Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next three months due to cancer problem. Though what disturbs me most is my stroke. Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to an individual or better still a God fearing person who will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in. I want an individual that will use this to fund and provide succor I understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I do not have any child and relatives.
I do not want my husband’s hard earned money to be misused or spent in the manner in which my late husband did not specify. I do not want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner, hence the reason for taking this bold decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going.

I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Almighty. With God all things are possible. My happiness is that I lived a life worthy of emulation. Whosoever that wants to serve the Almighty must serve him with all his heart and mind and soul and also in truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life.

Please assure me that you will act according to my specification herein. Lastly i want you to also reply me with some vital information of yours such as:

Full Name:
country:
State and Zip Code:
sex:
phone number:
occupation etc……
Hoping to hear from you.
Thank you and May the Almighty bless you.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Deborah Hutchinson

The Big Question

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 5:34 pm

Due to a recently influx of scams in our inbox, we really want to spend some time this week sharing those with you.  It’s good to understand what scams are out there so you don’t have to question what arrives in your email.  Yet, this can pose the big question… “Should I forward any spam emails I get to friends and family”?

Well, our opinion is no! Our reasoning is very simple.  Instead of flooding your contact list with more spam and unneccesary forwards, you might want to simply point them in the direction of an informational blog to check in on from time to time.  Of course we want you to always visit ours, but we understand that there are plenty of information blogs and sites out there.  We don’t expect you to only visit us!  Stay aware and avoid the forward button. Just surf the internet and keep on top of all the recent scams.

Read on friends! Below is another lottery based scam we received.

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 12:42 am

We have a few new email scams that we want to share with you.  Please take a second to read below and we will go over some details to be aware of for future adaptations.

I am Mrs Debbie Freeman from Utah United State of america Utah, I am 69 years old, I am deaf and dont hear and suffering from a long time cancer of the breast. From all indication my condition is really deteriorating, and my doctors have courageously advised me that I may not live beyond the next two months, this is because the cancer stage has reached a critical stage. I was brought up in a motherless babys home, and was married to my late husband Johnson Freeman for twenty years without a child.

My husband and I are true Christian’s,we lived all day in London,Uk, since he was working here as a contractor, but quite unfortunately,he died in a fatal motor accident.Since his death I decided not to re-marry and because of my bad stage of health,I sold all my inherited belongings to me and my late husband and deposited all the total sum of $25.8million dollars with the Barclays Bank London.

Presently, this money is still in the BANK, and the managementof the Barclays Bank London,Uk just write me as the Legitimate beneficiary to come forward to receive the money after keeping it for so long or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf since I can not come over as a result of my illness, or they get it confiscated.Presently, I’m with my laptop in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment.I have since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few months to live.

It is my last wish to see that these my hard earn money is invested in any organization of your choice and distributed each year among the charities organization, the poor and the motherless baby’s home where I come from.I want your good humanitarian,to also use these money to fund churches, orphanages andwidows around yourenvironmnets.

I must let you know that these was a very hard decision, but I had to take a bold step towards these issue because I have no further option, I hope you will help see my last wishes come true.

As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the Bank in London,Uk. I will also issue a letter of authority the bank, which will prove that you are the new beneficiary of my funds. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein.Hope to hear from you soonest.

Yours sincerly sister in Christ,

Mrs Debbie Freeman.

UK Lottery Scams

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 5:14 pm

Many of us that reside in the United States of America play the lottery. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but it is fun to tempt  fate and see if some “good luck” is on your side.

This simple tempt of fate is what some scammers across the globe depend on. The UK lottery scams emerged several years ago and are still hitting inboxes today.  The scam is simple, yet extremely dangerous for any victims that decide to correspond.  Some think of it like the popular 419 Nigerian email scam and others consider it a breed of its own. No matter what category you put the UK lottery scam under, you still don’t want to be a victim.

Most of the UK lottery scams will inform the victim that they have won a large sum of money in the UK lottery.  Sound fishy?  Don’t remember playing the UK lottery?  Well, you probably didn’t.  These emails are simply intended to start a dialogue between the victim and the scammer.

Almost every version of the scam will request that some sort of fee must be paid in order for the supposed UK lottery to then send over the winnings.  This is how the scammer profits.  If you send the fee to receive your winnings that is probably the last time you will have communication with the scammer. Once they receive your money, there is no need for them to answer any more of your emails.

Furthermore, it is not uncommon for the scammer to also offer a website for you to visit. Although the website looks legitimate it is a simple tool used to make you believe the email is valid.  Logos and other official looking images may be used in a further attempt to trick you.

As always, we can not stress enough that you read these emails with the understanding that many of them are fake.   Although most Americans always hope to win the lottery at some point, it’s best to understand exactly what game you are playing.

Our goal is to locate a current version of the UK lottery scam and post it for your review. Stay tuned and stay aware of what emails fall into your inbox and your spam.

What Does a Virus Mean to You?

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 10:25 pm

When you hear the word “virus” what do you think?  Some of us may think of the flu and call to schedule a flu shot. Still, others may run to their computers to make sure things are working properly.  Honestly, I am part of the latter group, yet I am still not aware of every harmful virus out there.  It may be almost impossible to stay on top of every virus made, but it is possible to understand what a virus is and how to avoid them.

Computer viruses are man-made and can interfere with hardware without the owner’s knowledge or consent.  Viruses can also replicate and easily be passed along from one person to another causing serious damage.  When a virus hits unnecessary ailments can happen including, but not limited to server damage, deletion of files, execution of miscellaneous videos, images, or text, and memory depletion.  All viruses have the potential to be minor and irritating or the ability to destroy your entire computer system. Some of the less harmful viruses will simply slow your computer and cause crashes. You may be experiencing these issues and not have any idea how or when you were infected.

As noted, different viruses behave differently and respond differently. Some viruses are only initiated if a specific program is running. For example, if you downloaded and ran a suspicious program a virus could infect your computer when you are running the application.  There are also viruses that exist in a file or on a disk that will constantly harm your computer until you turn the hardware off.   Furthermore, there are also viruses that will live in your hardware until detected and removed by an anti-virus program.

Regardless of the virus form, you don’t want to get one!  Be cautious and look twice at what you download and what file attachments you open. One common tool for a virus to spread is the email attachment.  It’s also a good idea to choose an anti-virus software and keep it up-to-date.  This will give you a solid form of protection.  Another step you can take is to set up firewalls and avoid forwarding any curious looking attachments on emails you receive.  Remember, it doesn’t matter who the email is from!   Friends and family can forward email viruses without knowing that they did.

Protect your system and all the documents you have!
